Internet safety Day 2026

24th Feb 2026

Internet Safety Day – “Smart Tech, Safe Choices”

This week, our school celebrated Internet Safety Day, an important annual event that reminds us how to stay safe, confident, and responsible when using technology. We held a whole‑school assembly where pupils learned about this year’s theme:

“Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI.”

The focus of this year’s campaign is helping both children and adults understand how to use AI‑driven tools safely, critically, and ethically. As technology becomes more advanced and a bigger part of our daily lives—whether through search engines, chatbots, apps, or games—it is vital that young people know how to recognise both the opportunities and the risks that come with it.

During the assembly, pupils explored how AI can be helpful for learning, creativity, and problem solving, while also thinking carefully about:

  • how to check if information is reliable,
  • what to do if something online doesn’t feel right,
  • how to protect personal information, and
  • why humans—not machines—make the safest choices.

Internet Safety Day is an important reminder that being online should be empowering and enjoyable, but also that we all share responsibility in using technology wisely. By learning to make smart, thoughtful choices, our pupils can grow into safe and confident digital citizens
